Clean your makeup brushes or beauty blenders as often as you should. By not cleaning your makeup brushes, you are leaving bacteria on your brushes that may be introducing bacteria on to your face, causing breakouts. Using mild soap and water can work well, although there are numerous brush cleaners on the market.
If you break out around your cheek area it could be due to holding your work or cell phone. Cleaning both your work phone or cell phone daily will keep the acne causing bacteria at bay and reduce breakouts that may appear on your cheeks.
Even though you wash your face at night, dirt, sweat, and bacteria can accumulate while you sleep. Changing your pillow case every night or every other night will help reduce the chance of clogging pores and causing acne. I change my pillow case every other night because I flip my pillow over on the second night.
Are you having breakouts on your neck and chest? Look at what laundry detergent you are using. Not all laundry detergents are created equal. Washing your clothes and towels with laundry detergent that does not have hypoallergenic ingredients increases your risk of breakouts The ingredients used in the detergent could transfer to your clothes and skin causing breakouts. I’ve found I can only use certain detergents through trial and error.
Washing your hair with certain hair care products could break your back out. When you wash your hair and rinse out the product your back and chest are exposed and could potentially clog your pores and cause breakouts. Through trial and error you will want to find a product that works well for your hair but not break you out.
Studies have shown that a diet low in dairy or a significant decrease in dairy help curb breakouts. I found once I switched to a plant based diet, I had fewer breakouts and was more in control of my acne. You may also need to do an elimination diet meaning start with a very bland diet and slowly incorporate foods to see how your skin reacts. For me, chocolate and tomatoes tend to break my skin out so I eat these foods sparingly.
Not all skincare products are created equal! I’ve learned my lesson the hard way and dumping tons on money in the next best anti-aging solution. If you buy a product with a good return policy, patch test a small area on your skin to see if your skin reacts to the product. Working out with makeup on can cause breakouts, especially on your hairline, neck, and back. Also, not washing your face or at least using a wipe after working out could cause acne. I notice when I workout, but wait to take a shower, my breakouts tend to be more towards my hairline.
