10 Reasons Why I Love My Skincare Routine
It only took me 31 years to figure out, but I did it! Why in the heck is that so hard to find? I wanted a skincare routine that had the effects of a high maintenance routine, but takes only minutes a day to perform. I’ve penciled it out and in the beginning, I spent to what equates to a cup of coffee a day, which isn’t bad, unless you have a major coffee addiction like me! I am now lucky enough to get my products for FREE, which now means I continue to support my coffee and skincare addiction 🙂
Keeping things simple, yet effective is key. I’ve spent a good part of my life in dermatologist’s offices. Even in the last year, it seems like I’ve had to wait over three months an appointment. Not only was I paying for the visit, I was also paying for expensive treatments and prescriptions. I would pay for gels, creams, treatments, and oral medications. As a busy working mom I did not have the luxury or the time for this in my life.

My products are shipped directly to my house. The other perk is I can adjust the schedule as I need to or place additional orders when I run out during the month.
Because I still have acne into my 30’s. (insert face palm) I still have to keep up with an acne regimen. I use a face wash with the active ingredient sulfur. Sulfur is great because it prevents acne from forming and calms my skin during breakouts.
I use a clarifying toner both day and night. The toner I use contains a few common ingredients like witch hazel, aloe, Glycolic Acid, Rosemary leaf extract.
Until this year, I’ve never used a serum on my face. Honestly it screamed to me breakout city. I was fortunate to find a serum that I could wear both day and night without the effects of breaking out or oily skin. The serum contains Hyaluronic Acid and Glycerin to battle dryness. Hyaluronic Acid is so powerful it can hold 1,000 times its weight in water. After further research of serums, I found out they set the stage and help elevate your skincare routine by increasing the efficiency of the products applied after the serum.
I use a topical treatment both day and night. The active ingredient is Benzoyl Peroxide which helps to combat acne. What is unique about this formulation is it has two chambers, one for the lotion and one for the gel. This design is to give maximum efficiency to the formulation for the best results. I find this is less drying than other brands that use benzoyl peroxide in their treatments.
I only use the moisturizer during the day to help reduce oily skin. It has an SPF 20 and balances my skin so my face isn’t a sheet of oil at 10am. I use the serum at night to replace the need for a moisturizer.
I use the paste 3 times a week to exfoliate my face and neck. This helps reduce the buildup of dead skin cells that form acne. The paste is a simple salt, sugar, and vitamin C scrub. I could probably make it myself, but it’s something I prefer to just order online.
I use two devices to elevate my skincare routine. They take less than a minute to use. In the morning and night, I use my facial brush. For the facial brush, I find it helps to unclog my pores and tighten my skin. Every other night I use my derma roller. With acupuncture grade needles, these create micro tears in the skin signaling the body to repair the skin causing regeneration of collagen. These two little devices, replace the need for me to get any extra facials or procedures done!
By finding my ideal skin care routine and complimentary products, I am now able to get clear skin and fight aging all for less than a cup of coffee a day. I love that I don’t have to wait for a dermatologist appointment and pay for expensive prescriptions and treatments. My skincare routine is just how I like it, simple enough for a busy schedule, yet effective enough to treat my skin at home.
